Some love stories begin with grand gestures, while others begin with a simple conversation. For Brooklyn and Tyler Shipley, their journey started on the cross-country course and grew stronger through every season that followed. From high school meets to long distance, college life, and a beachside proposal in Mexico, their relationship has been marked by perseverance, commitment, and a shared excitement for the future.

As they prepare for their wedding at The Old Barns at Dry Run Farms, Brooklyn and Tyler are looking forward to celebrating not only the beginning of their marriage, but also the years of memories that have led them to this special day.
From the Cross Country Course to a First Date
Brooklyn and Tyler first crossed paths in September 2020 at a cross country meet hosted by Westfall High School. At the time, neither of them knew that a simple encounter at a sporting event would become the beginning of something much greater.

A week later, another cross country meet at Westfall brought them together again. This time, they had the opportunity to strike up their first conversation. That conversation quickly led to a first date on October 2, 2020. Just over a month later, on November 8, they officially began dating.

Sometimes the strongest relationships begin with simple moments. A shared conversation, a common interest, and the willingness to get to know one another can become the foundation for a lifetime together.
A Proposal in Paradise
Several years later, Tyler planned a proposal that Brooklyn would never forget. He joined Brooklyn and her family on their annual vacation to Cancun, Mexico. After arriving at the hotel, the group decided to take a walk along the beach. With the sound of the waves nearby and the beautiful Caribbean scenery surrounding them, Tyler chose that moment to ask one of the most important questions of his life.

There could hardly have been a more fitting backdrop than the sandy beaches of Cancun. It was a quiet, meaningful moment shared with the person he loved, beginning the next chapter of their relationship in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Growing Stronger Through Long Distance
Every relationship faces challenges, and Brooklyn and Tyler's relationship was no exception. During their years together, they successfully navigated long distance not just once, but twice.
The first came during Brooklyn's freshman year of college, when adjusting to a new season of life meant learning how to maintain a strong relationship from miles apart.

Later, they faced another period of separation when Tyler left for basic training. While military training can place unique demands on a relationship, they remained committed to one another and continued building a strong foundation despite the distance.
Those experiences taught them patience, trust, communication, and perseverance. Instead of allowing distance to weaken their relationship, it strengthened it. Today, they have enjoyed attending the same college together for more than two years, a season they have appreciated after spending so much time apart. Their story is a reminder that while long-distance relationships require intentional effort, they can also deepen appreciation for the time spent together.
Looking Forward to the Walk Down the Aisle

Like many couples, Brooklyn has one moment she cannot wait to experience. She is most excited to see Tyler standing at the altar for the very first time. Rather than doing a first look before the ceremony, that first glimpse will happen as she walks down the aisle, creating one unforgettable moment filled with excitement, emotion, and anticipation.

Along with that special moment, both Brooklyn and Tyler are looking forward to celebrating alongside their family and friends, surrounded by the people who have supported them throughout their relationship.
Choosing The Old Barns at Dry Run Farms
When it came time to choose their Ohio wedding venue, Brooklyn and Tyler knew they wanted a location that reflected both beauty and timeless elegance. They found exactly that at The Old Barns at Dry Run Farms.

The peaceful countryside setting, beautifully restored historic barn, and scenic surroundings immediately stood out to them. They also appreciated that the venue is close to home, making it convenient for both them and many of their guests.

One of the things couples often love most about The Old Barns at Dry Run Farms is that the venue's natural character speaks for itself. From the original barn wood to the surrounding farmland and picturesque ceremony locations, the property provides a stunning backdrop without requiring elaborate decorations.
A Minimal and Classic Wedding Style
Brooklyn and Tyler have chosen a wedding style that perfectly complements both their personalities and the venue itself. Their vision is minimal and classic.

Rather than following short lived trends, they are creating a timeless celebration that allows the beauty of the venue and the significance of the day to take center stage. Simple elegance has a way of never going out of style, and the rustic beauty of The Old Barns at Dry Run Farms provides the perfect setting for that vision.
Advice for Future Couples
When asked what advice they would give other engaged couples, Brooklyn and Tyler shared a reminder that is easy to overlook during wedding planning.
"Enjoy the time period of being engaged. It is the only time you will ever be able to call your partner your fiancé. It has been so fun to walk through this period together and prepare for the happiest day."
It's thoughtful advice.

Wedding planning can become busy with guest lists, vendors, schedules, and countless decisions. But engagement is more than simply preparing for one day. It is a unique season of life that only happens once. Taking time to enjoy date nights, celebrate milestones, dream about the future, and simply appreciate one another makes the journey to the wedding day even more meaningful.
